This study aimed to determine the aspects of spontaneous mouse homecage behavior that are most influenced by genetic variation. Behavior was recorded for three consecutive days in a home-cage system by 24/7 overhead video tracking for each animal individually. Continuous video-tracking observations of sheltering behavior and locomotor activity were segmented into distinguishable behavioral elements, yielding a set of 115 behavioral parameters which demonstrated high dimensionality. Sixty-seven of those measurements have been accessioned here. Within-strain variation in behavior was also assessed. Selected measurements were log10 transformed by the investigators.
