An intercross between SM/J x NZB/BlNJ inbred mouse strains was generated to identify QTLs that are involved in regulating phospholipid transfer activity (PLTP) and HDL cholesterol levels. PLTP activity, total cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol were measured in mice administered a high-fat (15%) diet from 8-24 wks of age (16 wks on high fat diet). Plasma was obtained from fasted mice (4 hr) at 8 wks (baseline), 14, 20, and 24 wks. For detailed protocols see publications (below).
